While the years have gone by and your family is grown,  we still remember you  as our classmate who remained forever young.  A smile for everyone, especially your high school sweetheart Linda who would become your bride in 1970.  May your memory always be a blessing.  You have not been forgotten by your classmates...RPHS 1967.  Be at peace.

Thomas Baker

Birth Date: 1949-11-08
Deceased Date: 2010-11-30
Obituary:
Thomas Michael Baker was born in Hoboken and was the only child of Marie (Albanese) & John Alexander Baker.  The family moved to 50 Spruce Street in Ridgefield Park in 1950 before he was one year old.  Tom attended St. Francis R.C. grammar school. His mother had been a stay-at-home mom, volunteering at St. Francis school in the Mothers’ Guild. Tragedy struck early in Tom’s life when his father died while Tom was an eighth grader at St. Francis.

As many of us attended public grammar schools in RP or lived in LF, we may not have known Tom until he entered RPHS freshman year.  I made my First Holy Communion and Confirmation with Tom but I did not really know him well.
Under his 1967 yearbook picture it was written: “he freely admits he does not like school but greatly enjoys riding around in his 1967 red Camaro”.

Tom enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and spent 13 months of active duty in Vietnam, including the 1968 TET offensive.  Achieving the rank of Sergeant, Tom was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal, the Meritorious Unit Emblem, and the Marksmanship Badge.  His brief obituary stated he was wounded in Vietnam; however, there is no mention that he received a Purple Heart.

In 1972, Tom had a daughter from his first marriage while he was still in the service. After the service, he lived in Florida for a number of years before moving to Ohio. Tom's love of cars remained in place throughout his life: he was working in the automobile industry at the time of his passing. Tom  had remarried Debra Kay Partin and she survived him.  Tom died suddenly at home of natural causes.

Tom is remembered by his Classmates of RPHS 1967; despite what he must have experienced in Vietnam, we hope he had joy and happiness in his life.  We thank Tom for his service. May his memory be a blessing to those whose lives he touched and for all those who loved him.

If you have a memory of Tom, please leave a tribute for him on the In Memoriam page.

When we were young in RP, did we know the talent you had inside of you yet to blossom? You made your living working with an installing tile.  But your soul was the artist - wood or metal.  Hidden talents we did not see when we were young.

The Westwood Firemans Statue:  The artist of this statue is Idol Brawer of Westwood, NJ.  The statue was hand forged on an anvil out of 3161 stainless steel.  After welding it was ground and polished.  The granite base was designed and installed by Idol Brawner.  The statue was completed and installed in April pf 1996 and is still as brilliant as the day it was installed.  Artist  Idol Brawer   (RPHS Class of 1967)

Idol
You were our classmate in RP Schools for several years but did not make it to the Idler 1967 as you had different roads to follow in those last years.  You lived in Westwood with your wife Brenda and children Jessse and Emily.  Your business was tile work, but your passion was carving wood. There were many articles in the newspaper with pictures of your work and interviews with you. One is attached.

May you be remembered for the wonderful talent you had and may your memory be a blessing to your family.

You are remembered fondly by your Classmates RPHS  1967

Dolores Calley

Birth Date: 1949-04-16
Deceased Date: 2019-05-13
Obituary:
The following was extrapolated from her family published obituary and historical research.

Dolores "Dee" Hannah Calley was welcomed into the arms of the universe on May 13, 2019 at 70 years old in Oak Hill Hospital, Weeki Wachee, FL.    Dee was born in Jersey City, NJ and grew up in Ridgefield Park NJ, graduating Ridgefield Park High School Class of 1967. She was the daughter of the late Frederick Corwin Calley (1959)  and was survived by her mother, Anne (Sessa Calley) Tsigounis (since passed in 2022). Dee was also survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Kevin & Kelly Calley of Weeki Wachee, Florida; Mark Calley of San Francisco, California; daughter, Megan Calley and her partner, David Kelly, of New Canaan, Connecticut brother, Frederick  (Rick) Calley of Denton, Texas; sisters, Patricia (Calley) O’Neill of Denton, Texas and Calley (formerly Catherine Calley)  O’Neill of Hilo, Hawaii; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Dee attended Roanoke College, VA  and graduated with a degree in microbiology. She worked at a lab doing research where she held a  senior position for years on end and engaged in some groundbreaking work in her field. Dee was a microbiologist in the healthcare industry. She also worked as a science teacher in rural schools in the south. A published author, the semi-autobiographical book  "Awakening Wisdom From Innocence" by  Dolores Calley is available from Amazon.  Cover art was done by her younger sister Calley O'Neil (Hawaii).  Dolores was very spiritual.

Dee had lived in  Cliffside Park NJ when she was married after college. She lived in many parts of the US. After New Jersey, she moved to Florida, North Carolina, back to Florida and then California before returning to North Carolina and Florida. She also spent time with her mother Anne and stepfather Stanley in Bradentown FL.

Dee spent the last part of her life in Florida to be with her eldest son, Kevin and his family, Kelly and Cameron.  Dee passed the day after Mother's Day after speaking to all of her children and grandchildren.

Her children wrote "the perfect day to move on from this world and into the next.  There are no words that can express the loss of our mom, but we all also grieve deeply with our grandmother who lost her daughter too soon.  She will be missed greatly by your family and those you chose to make your family”.

From your classmates at RPHS 1967, may your memory be a blessing to all who knew you.  Rest in peace, you will be missed.

Glenn Cuomo

Birth Date: 1949-10-15
Deceased Date: 2014-03-28
Obituary:
“Glenn, we hardly knew ye” applies to Glenn to quote an old Irish song.  Glenn spent only two years with us at RPHS. He transferred from St. Peter’s Preparatory School in Jersey City where he was born. Glenn wrote under his yearbook picture “he loved joking and schoolwork not so much”.

The Cuomo family moved to Little Ferry around 1958.  He was the son of Mario and Dorothy (Kunow) Cuomo, and he had three younger brothers who pre-deceased him: (Dale, Richard, and Brian). His brother Brian, a music student of Julliard in NYC, was a talented piano and keyboard musician.

After RPHS, Glenn married and lived in Hackensack.  In the late 1970’s he moved to Hawaii; his first marriage had been short-lived, and he remarried in Hawaii. Eventually, most of his extended family moved to Hawaii:  parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews. Glenn was employed by the Kihei (Maui Island) police department. He was a lieutenant and lead detective when he died suddenly at the age of 64.

Glenn was the father of six children.  Sadly, one of Glenn’s sons passed away suddenly in 2023.  Glenn was survived by his 2nd wife, Lucila (Lucy), his children, his mother, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him and his life after RPHS brought him contentment.

Do you have a memory of Glenn in RPHS - please leave a tribute.  Thank you.

Arthur Victor DeBlasio

Birth Date: 1949-06-24
Deceased Date: 2022-07-15
Obituary:
Our classmate, Art passed away recently.  He was born and passed in the same home in Little Ferry where he and 3 generations of his maternal family had lived, 11 Brandt Street.  Sadly, when Art was only 14, his mother passed away from a heart attack (she was 38).   Despite this great loss, Art continued to excel at RPHS becoming a member of the National Honor Society and then went to Montclair College.  After graduation, he spent his entire teaching career in the Hackensack School District.  He was a very active member of the Second Reformed Church in Hackensack, serving as administrator, a member of the choir and bell choir. Art was also a dedicated volunteer at Holy Name Hospital for many years. During his life of teaching and serving his church and volunteer work at Holy Name Hospital, he deeply touched many peoples lives over the last 50 years.   As his congregation stated in their bulletin “well done good and faithful servant”.
Surviving are his sister Alice and other beloved relatives. They “laughed together, sang together, vacationed together, and celebrated every special occasion together, from holidays to birthdays to weddings to even ordinary things. His presence, his generosity, and his quick wit will be sorely missed.” A prayer service was held at the funeral home.

Dennis and his family were very close to ours. He was such a great guy and a good friend. I was saddened to learn of his passing in the Memorial Section. Even though we have not been in touch over the years, the friendship we had is everlasting.
